Job Definition

We are recruiting for an engineer in our Generation Department in Sultan, WA.  The selected candidate will successfully provide technical, engineering, and project management services related to the design, maintenance, operations, improvements of and additions to the District’s facilities and systems in a technically sound, safe, timely, and cost-effective manner to enable the District to realize its goals and objectives. Plans, organizes, assigns, and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Performs as project leader on medium to large projects and assignments.  Ideal candidate would have power experience, preferably generation.  

Experience/Education

Engineer II: $104,918 - $131,148 Annually

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related field, AND
  • Two (2) years of related engineering experience;

OR

  • Six (6) years of directly related engineering experience and a Washington State Professional Engineering License (PE) in-lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.

 

Engineer III: $131,609 - $164,512 Annually

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related field, AND
  • Four (4) years of related engineering experience;

OR

  • Eight (8) years of directly related engineering experience and a Washington State Professional Engineering License (PE) in-lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.

 

Professional Engineer: $165,0901 - $206,363 Annually

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related field, AND
  • Six (6) years of related engineering experience;

OR

  • Ten (10) years of directly related engineering experience.

 

Required License(s) and/or Certification(s):

  • Valid Washington State Driver's License with a good driving record
  • Washington State Professional Engineering (PE) License*(For Professional Engineer only)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional engineer, journeyman, or supervisory background in mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation and controls work.
  • Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance.
  • Knowledge of hydroelectric generation and FERC licensing requirements.
  • Experience in budgeting, KPI tracking, and maintenance performance metrics.
  • Familiarity with union environments, outage planning, and utility operations.
  • Strong understanding of preventive, predictive, or corrective maintenance practices and asset management.
  • Experience planning work orders, labor, materials, tools, and outage schedules
  • Working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems such as SAP, Maximo, or similar software.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and equipment drawings.
  • Ability to work with operations, maintenance crews, contractors, and vendors to organize work efficiently
  • Experience identifying and ordering parts, tracking materials, and ensuring job readiness.
  • Understanding of safety procedures, lockout/tagout, permits, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Ability to prioritize work, adjust schedules, and resolve resource or equipment conflicts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
