Job Definition

Oversees the design, installation, testing and maintenance of District systems infrastructure and resolves complex system issues.  Designs and administers security on system infrastructure platforms.  Recommends new hardware and software products.  Coaches, mentors, and provides training to Information Technology staff, providing guidance on various related topics.

Essential Job Functions

Analyzes, designs, implements, monitors, and maintains District computer system infrastructure and performance.

 

Designs and administers security on system infrastructure platforms.

 

Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves complex system problems and provides advance standard support and maintenance of District system infrastructure.

 

Evaluates and recommends new hardware and software products that will enhance the District’s infrastructure system reliability and efficiency.

 

Coordinates maintenance and repair between vendor and District maintenance resources.

 

Performs cost benefit analysis of proposals for the District’s infrastructure platforms.

 

Serves as the technical lead and consultant for small to moderate projects and teams.

 

Develops and maintains accurate documentation.

 

Follows and assists in the development of policies, procedures, standards and methodologies with Information Technology Services and the District.  Applies security and quality assurance standards and best practices.

 

Coaches, mentors, and provides training to other Information Technology staff by providing guidance on various related topics.

Serves as project manager for small to medium projects as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of:
• System security software.
• Advanced computer networking and system operation functions, including proficiency in multiple operating systems. (e.g. Microsoft, UNIX, etc.)
• Software deployment process.
• Peripheral equipment (e.g., installs, replace, relocate, minor repairs, etc.)
• Resource management theory and principles, strategic information systems planning.
• Problem identification and analysis techniques.
• Coaching and consulting techniques.
• Project management principles, practices, and philosophies.
• Business writing concepts.
• Cost benefit analysis.
• Customer service practices and principles.
Ability to:

Experience/Education

Infrastructure Systems Analyst

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or related field OR the equivalent combination of related education and experience and three (3) years progressively more responsible experience working with computer system infrastructures.

       OR

  • Associates Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or related field OR the equivalent combination of related education and experience and five (5) years progressively more responsible experience working with computer system infrastructures.

Sr Infrastructure Analyst

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experiece OR the equivalent combination of related education and experience
  • Five (5) years progressively more responsible experience working with computer system infrastructures.

License/Certification

• Valid Washington State Driver License.

Working Conditions

• Duties performed in an office environment and require the extensive repetitive use of a computer keyboard & mouse.
• Incumbent is required to crawl under desks to connect network cable and power connections in a workspace or rack mounted enclosure and have the abililty to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Travel to other District offices and meetings are required.
• 24/7 pager duty is required.
