Job Definition
Snohomish PUD is seeking to fill a vacancy within their Natural Resources Team with a primary emphasis in selecting a candidate with relevant field experience in the areas of hydrology and water quality, and a secondary emphasis on fisheries monitoring. A general understanding of how these disciplines intersect with hydropower project operations and environmental regulations is essential. The preferred candidate will have a strong background in hydrologic principles and field techniques for measuring surface and/or ground water discharge, including an applied understanding of hydrologic forecasting and modeling. The candidate will also possess a thorough understanding of standard water quality parameters and their importance to aquatic life. The ideal candidate enjoys a variety field work and is comfortable navigating by foot, raft, or boat in and around swift flowing water, under various weather conditions.
Assists and advises the District on environmental matters related to project permitting, regulatory policy, and compliance with the terms and conditions of the operating licenses for each of the District's generating facilities. Provides support in decision making on environmental issues through the application of technical expertise, scientific practice, and diverse knowledge. Participates as in interdisciplinary team member and serves as project lead on important environmental initiatives or regulatory affairs impacting the utility. Manages the planning, development, and implementation of scientific studies related to environmental issues or project licensing.
Experience/Education
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in an Environmental or Scientific related field, AND
- Two (2) years of professional experience as a resource specialist or scientific researcher, or related.

Preferred Qualifications
- Safety Awareness: Experience and knowledge of field safety and best practices for working in remote and hazardous environments.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing field conditions and project requirements.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for presenting findings to stakeholders and collaborating with team members.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to develop innovative solutions to complex environmental challenges.
- Field Equipment Proficiency: Skilled in using various hydrological, water quality, and fisheries monitoring equipment.
- Technical Writing: Strong ability to prepare detailed technical scientific reports.
- Experience in conducting pacific salmon and steelhead trout escapement surveys.
- Data Analysis: Proficiency in field and/or remote sensing data collection, analysis, and visualization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Strong skills in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
