Job Definition

We are recruiting for an engineer in our Generation Department in Sultan, WA. The selected candidate will successfully provide technical, engineering, and project management services related to the design, maintenance, operations, improvements of and additions to the District’s facilities and systems in a technically sound, safe, timely, and cost-effective manner to enable the District to realize its goals and objectives. Plans, organizes, assigns, and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Performs as project leader on medium to large projects and assignments. Ideal candidate would have power experience, preferably generation.

Experience/Education

Engineer II: $104,918 - $131,148 Annually

Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related field, AND
Two (2) years of related engineering experience;

Six (6) years of directly related engineering experience and a Washington State Professional Engineering License (PE) in-lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.

Engineer III: $131,609 - $164,512 Annually

Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related field, AND
Four (4) years of related engineering experience;

Eight (8) years of directly related engineering experience and a Washington State Professional Engineering License (PE) in-lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.

Professional Engineer: $165,0901 - $206,363 Annually

Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related field, AND
Six (6) years of related engineering experience;

Ten (10) years of directly related engineering experience.

Required License(s) and/or Certification(s):

Valid Washington State Driver's License with a good driving record
Washington State Professional Engineering (PE) License*(For Professional Engineer only)

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional engineer, journeyman, or supervisory background in mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation and controls work.
Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance.
Knowledge of hydroelectric generation and FERC licensing requirements.
Experience in budgeting, KPI tracking, and maintenance performance metrics.
Familiarity with union environments, outage planning, and utility operations.
Strong understanding of preventive, predictive, or corrective maintenance practices and asset management.
Experience planning work orders, labor, materials, tools, and outage schedules
Working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems such as SAP, Maximo, or similar software.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and equipment drawings.
Ability to work with operations, maintenance crews, contractors, and vendors to organize work efficiently
Experience identifying and ordering parts, tracking materials, and ensuring job readiness.
Understanding of safety procedures, lockout/tagout, permits, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Ability to prioritize work, adjust schedules, and resolve resource or equipment conflicts.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Job Definition

Provides leadership and strategic direction to the Substation, Metering and Telecommunications and AMI Technologies groups within Distribution and Engineering services to accomplish the District’s established goals and strategic objectives. Job Definition

Performs various duties in the operation, maintenance, construction, and storekeeping of the District's water systems to assure that local, state, and federal regulations are adhered to and that prompt, efficient, courteous service is provided to water utility customers.

Distinguishing Characteristics

This position is a step progression position with time requirements and with more responsibility assigned as experience is gained. The Water Distribution Specialist classification is distinguished from the Water Worker classification by the increased technical knowledge and skill required to perform the work. Progression to the next level of Water Distribution Specialist does not require a bid, but is contingent upon a satisfactory completion of the basic modules as outlined in the Water Unit Classification Administrative Guidelines/Modules and meeting the necessary time requirements.

Incumbents in this classification assigned to the Lake Stevens Water Operations headquarters are required to establish their residence so they will be able to report to work within thirty (30) minutes after being called.

Essential Job Functions

1.   Under the direction of the Water Foreman and from plans, drawings, specifications, standard details, written and verbal instructions, etc., independently or with the assistance of other Water Distribution Specialists, Water Workers, other District employees, contractors, etc., performs a wide variety of water system operation, maintenance, construction and storekeeping duties consistent with the current Water Unit Classifications Administrative Guidelines.
2.   Guides, instructs, and checks the work of other Water Distribution Specialists, Water Workers, Flaggers, etc. to assist in their training as necessary.
3.   Performs standby duties as assigned.
4.   Follows applicable safety rules contained in the District's Accident Prevention Manual and WAC 296-24, 296-45, 296-54, 296-62, and 296-155.

Level 4: Six months experience at Level 3 plus successful passage of the basic knowledge training module. After six months at Level 4, employee will automatically progress to Level 1 Water Distribution Specialist. Level 3 employees who do not pass the basic knowledge training module within six months of obtaining Level 3 will be laid off.

General Qualifications:

High school graduate or equivalent.
Basic knowledge of applicable state safety requirements.
Appropriate Washington State certification.
Valid Washington State Driver's License.
Ability to obtain first aid, CPR, flagging cards, and asbestos cement pipe certification within three months.
